Team Fish'n Addiction Adds Another Top Finish To It's Portfolio

June 6, 2009

Right out of the gate the new addition to Team Fish'n Addiction Captain Joey Lara joins Joe Perez in capturing a 16th place finish and tourney money in the 2nd stop of the IFA Redfish Tour held in Corpus Christi, Texas. Captain Joey carried the weight as he anchored the team's success in the team's first venue together. "We felt good going into tournament day. We found several areas holding fish so our game plan was to hit certain areas at certain times of the day. It paid off for us", says Perez. At the days start the Team new that they needed sufficient daylight for their hot spot. The team started their day in an area with deeper water blind casting to a pocket known to hold quality Reds, however it is a hit or miss area. "We decided to start there and grind it out and hopefully pick up at least one quality red. We were just waiting for the right lighting conditions before we could move into our Money spot.", states Lara. The Team didn't have much luck at the first stop so as soon as the sun gave way they ran to their money spot. Shortly after arriving Captain Joey sight casted into several decent reds in the 23-25 inch class. With quality fish in the livewell it was time to upgrade. 2 hours into it Captain Joey spotted and hooked a trophy redfish. As he fought it to the boat it made several runs. As the net was being lowered by Perez the redfish decided to make yet another run. As the redfish did this, the leader lined must have rubbed up against the boat breaking off this incredible fish. Disgusted, the team continued it's pursuit and landed many more quality redfish but just not the size need to place. "We saw several singles and one pod of tailing redfish as the day progressed," claimed Perez. As the day passed by, the Team was running out of time when Captain Joey sighted another quality redfish. His cast was spot on and the fight began. This time captain Joey was patient with landing this fish and made sure not to make any mistakes trying to "Horse" this fish into the boat. Perez Netted the fish and it measured 28 inches on the dot. This quality fish assured them of a chance at placing somewhere in the top 20. "It would have been nice to have landed the first fish we lost, it would have put us up there on the leader board," says Lara. The Team certainly showed promise, chemistry and character for the first venue together. Team Fish'n Addiction now sets it's sights on the next stop which will be held July 11, 2009 at Bluff's Landing Marina in Corpus Christi, Texas for the last Regular stop of the Texas Redfish Series.
